Oxford Open Streets 2009
Oxford Open Streets 2009 is being held on Saturday 19 September and Sunday 20 September. Your street chooses which day they prefer to hold their event –and what type of event they want to stage. Your event may take place in your street or at a local public space. Some streets already have established events which they hold at other times of the year. We hope that they too will register their support of Oxford Open Streets 2009.

Street Closures and Insurance
If your event involves a street closure, you will require approval from the City Council (normally readily given) which you need to apply for at least 6 weeks in advance. For an application form and guidance/conditions see closing a street. One condition is that you must have appropriate public liability insurance. We are pleased to announce that the Council will fund such insurance for a limited number of events on a first come first served basis. Contact us for details. If you have queries about street closure, contact Mathew Metcalfe, Oxford City Council - 01865 252214 or mmetcalfe@oxford.gov.uk
If your event does not involve a street closure you may still wish to take out public liability insurance. That is a decision for your group to take. See also the Insurance section of the Street Party website and the FAQs page of this site for more information.
Registration
If you do intend to have a street celebration or campaign for change, please let us know by registering on this website. Please register even if your event is not on the 19 or 20 September. The more groups that register the better … it will help us make a stronger case to the local authorities for 'better' streets.
